Travel Journal to Mt Everest Base Camp
These boots are made for walking
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over… Mt Everest. That’s right, these boots will be my trusty companions as I complete the Cherish Trek to Mt Everest Base Camp in April.
They were one of the first pieces of trekking gear I researched when I decided to take on this adventure. I wanted to make sure I got them in good time to wear them in before they have to carry me 136 kilometres up and down the slopes of Nepal.
Some of you will know that I originate from Austria. While there are no kangaroos in Austria (tourist joke!) there are some excellent boot makers. Probably because they have some high mountains and some serious outdoor fanatics who like to hike them in all weather. After all my research, Austria (not Australia where I live and love to bush walk) is where I sourced my boots.
In preparation for the Cherish Trek, these boots have already walked more than one million steps, and they will walk thousands more to raise funds for gynaecological cancer research. Even more important to note, is that every dollar you donate to this adventure goes towards research, and not to my clothing budget or travel expenses.
