Creating my trek playlist
It’s time I got started on a playlist for the Cherish Trek. I’m looking for a set of songs that will help lighten my step, match the magnificent scenery and remind me of my mission on the dusty uphill climb to Mt Everest Base Camp.
I need some help! When you divide your day between surgery, patient care and cancer research, there’s not much time for anything else. Thankfully the Cherish team has started the task for me, and they’ve also thrown you a challenge.
If you donate to the Cherish Trek, you can nominate a song for my playlist. Go on, surprise me! Here is the eclectic list of songs we’ve compiled so far. There are songs about mountains, being brave and ticking things off your bucket list…
- Dreams, Van Halen (we’ll get higher and higher…)
- Best day of my life, American Authors
- Eye of the tiger, Survivor
- Rocky mountain high, John Denver
- King of the mountain, Midnight Oil
- Ain’t no mountain high enough, Marvin Gaye
- Brave, Sarah Bareilles (check out her music video, let’s create an Everest version!)
- I won’t back down, Tom Petty
- Beautiful life, Nick Fradiani
- On top of the world, Imagine Dragons
And one of my personal favourites that I’ve added to the list because it makes me smile:
11. Schnappi das kleine krokodil (check out the Youtube video here)
Over to you! Inspire me with your song selection, and I’ll sing your song along the Cherish Trek in April. Don’t forget to add the name of your song in the ‘message’ section when you donate.
